Title: Principal Investigator
Bio: Professor Janet Box-Steffensmeier is a leading scholar in the study of mass politics, legislatures and political methodology. Her work has probed mass politics, legislatures, their intersection, and how to best capture change and dynamics. She has provided new substantive understandings in these domains while fostering advances in methodology. Her research has been recognized with the Harold F. Gosnell Award for best work in Political Methodology twice, Best Article published by the Journal of Politics (a top disciplinary journal), and the Emerging Scholar Award by the Elections, Public Opinion, and Voting Behavior Section of the American Political Science Association. Her scholarly standing and professional commitment are recognized by her selection as president and president-elect of two leading scholarly associations Political Methodology Section of the American Political Science Association and the Midwest Political Science Association, respectively), treasurer of the American Political Science Association, and associate editor for the American Journal of Political Science and Legislative Politics and Policymaking Series Editor for the University of Michigan Press. As a teacher and advisor, she has been awarded the Distinguished Undergraduate Research Mentor Award, Excellence in Mentorship Award, and has had a scholarship named for her on behalf of women studying political methodology.

Charles Campisano

Bio: Charles Campisano is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University studying American Politics. His research interests include judicial politics, federal courts, the federal judicial selection process, and Congress. Charles received his B.A. in political science in 2009 from Ohio State graduating summa cum laude with research distinction. His undergraduate research work earned him numerous grants, scholarships, and awards including the Henry Spencer Award for Outstanding Senior Thesis in political science.

Matthew Hitt, Ph.D.

Bio: Matthew P. Hitt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Colorado State University. He studies judgement and decision making in American political institutions, in particular the judiciary, as well as quantitative methodology. His research has been published by Cambridge University Press, American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Law and Society Review, Presidential Studies Quarterly, Public Opinion Quarterly, Studies in American Political Development, and the International Journal of Public Opinion Research.

Kevin M. Scott, Ph.D.

Bio: Kevin M. Scott is a Social Science Analyst for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts*, where he specializes in caseload forecasting and conducts research on bankruptcy . He received his Ph.D.in Political Science from Ohio State University, and was previously an assistant professor of political science at Texas Tech University and an analyst for the Congressional Research Service. His research has appeared in several peer-reviewed journals and law reviews, including Political Research Quarterly, Law and Society Review, Judicature, and the Virginia Law Review. His research focuses on the decision-making of appellate judges in the federal court system.

Andrew Duthie

Title: Web Developer
Bio: Andrew Duthie has a Bachelor of Arts in the Departments of Political Science and Philosophy at the Ohio State University, with a minor in Computer Science. His passion for both politics and computer technology is what motivated him to become involved in the Senate Blue Slip Database project. He is responsible for developing and implementing the web interface through which users are able to search and download blue slip data.
